Blogger is a somewhat unusual place to begin this track for the course. You will need to establish a blog to post your Performance Records for the SMART and HTML tracks. So, that is why we are beginning this track with Blogger.

Blogging is a way of sharing one's thoughts and ideas. Facebook and twitter are mini and micro blog systems, respectively, used as social media. Full scale blogs often are used professionally and in academic settings to carry out asynchronous discussions.

Discussions among colleagues often are tracked using a blogroll.

SetupThis is how we will carry on an academic discussion of your introduction to educational media technologies for this course. To do that, you will need to create a blog, as follows:

    • Create Blog Now
    • Use Google account or establish a new account

  • B. Name blog

    • This name becomes part of the web address, so it must be unique to that service.
    • Sometimes the name of the blog also becomes the title of the blog, as well. In other instances the title may be different.

  • C. Preview and choose a templateD. You will be invited to start posting with your first post. You can save to a "Draft" if you have to quit before you are finished with what you wish to write.E. When you have written what you wish to post, "Preview Before Publishing" (PBP). Again, if it doesn't look right, save to "draft." Only when you are happy with what you have written and the way it appears in Preview, do you press "Publish."F. Review your "Dashboard" settings to be sure you know where your Dashboard is, and what is there. This is the control center for your blog. If the service has to contact you, this is the interface point.G. Set up your blogroll and labels gadget.H. Post your Tech Performance Record for this evening.
  • I. Please note the use of labels for your posts in the TECH and GAIN tracks, and put a gadget on the side of your blog to track the postings within their respective tracks.
